FTH 5-Pin Impressioning Practice Lock (Level 1)

Introduction

Impressioning precisely and rapidly requires building strong fundamentals through practice. The right choice of practice lock is crucial to ensure to steady progress, avoid frustration and develop skills that are relevant to the locks you'll encounter in the field.

The FTH - 5 Pin Cylinder is a perfect "Level 1" lock, designed to allow you to learn impressioning skills that work in the real-world.

• Conical Pins
  Conical pins leave strong marks on blanks, allowing you to easily see where the pins have bound.
  
  
• Standard Bitting
  The Lock401 "Level 1" locks have 'standard' bitting, striking a balance between too-easy and too-hard - allowing you to start to build the confidence and patience required for more difficult locks, without snapping keys or jamming blanks.
  
  
• Speed Hacks
  Conical pins will often leave multiple traces with varying strength. The Level 1 Lock will allow you to start to learn "speed hacks" - filing multiple cuts at once, depending on the strength of the mark - and also when to stop filing.
